Stop Charging For Demos on the Marketplace

No, seriously.  Stop.  It's not about the 1L or 2L or whatever, it's about the fact that it's not cool to pay for the "privilege" or *maybe* buying your item.  Cut the crap.  I rarely, actually almost never, buy from stores who charge for demos.  Neither does Isabeau.  (Sorry for calling you out the fellow blogger, haha.)  Neither do a lot of people on Plurk.  Is the 1L you make off of a demo worth the potential lost customers?

P.S.- I've heard all of the excuses and none of them are good enough.  It's even worse in world to charge for demos but there are one or two excuses for that that are *sort of* legit.  Marketplace?  Nope.

Schizophrenic Me.

I know it is summer back in Canadaland but it is winter here. I feel kind of schizophrenic at the moment ... I mean more than normal.



One blog post is half naked in the ocean and the next is kind of rugged up. I like to call it fashion-art or "fart." I am working with the medium of the seasons and trying to paint the dichotomy of the two extremes in the total whole of the piece. (you should have 3 or 4 people bring their stringed instruments to the office to play during parts like these. OH and stick yoour nose way up in the air and have someone pull your hair back into a tight pony tail. If your eyes are not pulled around on each side to where your ears used to be, then you don't have the pony tight enough.)

I can't just relax and go with one season, I am back and forth and back and forth with double spoonfuls of guilt that I am going to be called once again on failing my whole life because I do not currently reside in the US and am not doing it their way. I try so hard to fit in and be accepted and do you have any idea how much of a handicap it is to be a non-american? Like I am already in the dirt under the sub basement trying to claw my way up the house into the popular girls closet. I have visions of the girls in that closet pointing at my faux pas of wearing warm clothes in the summer and putting up Anti-Bliss fly paper all over the house again.

 I thought of trying hybirds ... you know bathing suit top, snow pant bottoms, ear muff and flip flops . . . . but I was concerned I would lose my respected position amongst the bloggers of the scum that pond scum gets when it is ... scummy. So ya ... I am just gonna be neurotic and not know where I am and what season it is. I am just gonna do my own thing, over here, by myself, in the corner under the dead cockroach.

Oh wait a minute, how silly, this is not going to be nearly as bad as I thought it was ....


... under the cockroach is where my desk is ... hahahahaha. I guess it is true what they say about you worry about silly things that will probably never happen. I am going to do a t-shirt to wear to remind myself and you should probably get your crayons out right now, and gather everyone and have some art time.

Tell them it is "fart" because it is fashion art. My T-Shirt will say "When you worry that something you did was so bad that people are going to judge you and banish you to live under a dead cockroach and that will make you cry and want your mommy, always remember to look up. If you see a dead cockroach, and your mommy is nowhere to be found, stop worrying, you are already living that nightmare. Just think to yourself that Jesus wants you for a sunbeam and that at least you are not a cockroach."

It may have to be a dress.

More awesome hair, following the release from Truth - this time from Dura.  (Want to avoid a fanboy again, but this is truly great). I'm also excited about finally getting around to pick up some of the new mesh releases from Aitui - this jacket / shirt combo is particularly excellent.

I have some things to say but can't seem to get them into an even vaguely coherent format.  So I will "Haiku-ize" them, and obviously that will make it incomprehensible, which is probably for the best.

With “Layali”, we created a roleplay dream-come true in a seductive mix of fetish and 1001 nights to merge into the silks you ever wanted: vibrant colored, smooth silk cloth caressing skin with each step, while held in place firmly by chains wrapped around the curves of the body. Each silk comes with 2 different fabric colors in the package with matching metal:

**ONYX/MIDNIGHT** on **BRUSHED STEEL** chains, **GOLD/CANARY** mixed with **GOLD** chains, and **RED/AUBERGINE** or **PINK/PURPLE** are worn with **GUNMETAL** chains. **TEAL/BLUE** comes with **ROUGH METAL** chains, and silks in **WHITE/PEARL** pair up with chains of **PLATINUM**, naturally. And last, earth-colored silks in **OLIVE/CHOCOLATE** that go with **BLACK LATEX** chain.

And of course if you can’t decide which one to go for (or just for the ultimate mix-and-match fun) there’s always our **COLOR PACK** including all colors of silks and all metal materials.

Layali’s chain parts are made of rigged mesh link chains split into top and bottom (so you can mix sizes for each if required) and comes in 4 sizes (XS, S, M and L) based on the standard sizing system and includes, along with the flexi silks, a top with matching chest adornment and appliers for Lolas Tango (and any other mesh breasts that are compatible with Tango appliers, such as Lush.) And last, chain wrists and leg wraps to complete the look.

Each silk color is included in different styles, a full silk with strings at the side of hips, a basic one with hips free, a plain one with only front and back covered, and a version open at front.

Please take note, these silks requires a mesh compatible viewer.

DETAILED INFORMATION

MESH:

Rigged mesh cannot be adjusted in size or position on an avatar. For that reason, we’ve joined the idea of “Standard Sizing” and added sizes L, M, S and XS for the mesh chains. Please try the demos to make sure one of them fits you or at least gives you a basis to adjust your shape to.

This mesh is not using any alpha layers, which means you will need to pick the one closest to your shape and then fine-tune your shape to the mesh where needed. The provided sizes work fairly well with most shapes we have tested, but to be sure you can work with it please test it with our free demos.

Testing the sizes with different avatar shapes, we found that most effective fit (if required) can be achieved with adjusting the sliders for separate/join cleavage and gravity/less gravity as well as breast size for the front. You can adjust how tight the chain runs around the back side by adjusting the torso love handles slider.

Included in this set are appliers for Lolas Tango mesh breasts, created by Sandi Moonites. Please see creator profile for information where to acquire them and take note, the appliers will work with “Lolas Tango Appliers” compatible mesh breasts only (such as Lush).

Of course none of these mesh breasts are included in the outfit and sold by their respective creators.

Appliers and Lolas do sometimes “get stuck” with lag – if you’re hitting the applier HUD with no changes of your Lolas’ texture, please first check that the correct layer and corresponding HUD is being used (dress top or dress bra) and the sim you are in allows scripts. If it still won’t work, re-attach both Lolas and HUD and try again. Any further troubleshooting is out of my hand and needs to be taken to the creators of your mesh breasts.

UPDATE TROUBLESHOOTING:

We’ve learned of times where the update script in the checker got corrupted with rezzing or unpacking and would not communicate to server proper. If you know an Update exists and your update item doesn’t connect at all to the server, please unpack a 2nd copy of the updater from your original box and try again with the fresh one. Usually you receive an update within a minute if it is available. It may take up to 5 though if you or the sim you are in is laggy, so please try a bit patience at least one time.

And as with everything scripted: Make sure you are in a sim that allows for scripts to run!

“Movies inspire me.” That is this year’s theme for the annual Hair Fair Photo Contest. Obviously I had to go for sci-fi, not only because it’s one of my favourite themes in general, but because crazy big sci-fi hairs in SL have always made me throw lindens at the designer in a blink of an eye.

The contest ends June 28th, so there’s still time to figure out your favourite movie hairstyles and to have fun with pictures before that. Hair Fair itself begins July 13th, so there’s still a long time to wait. More details on the contest can be found here.

As for the blue sci-fi hairstyle itself, it’s Delirium by Alice Project. Alice has a big summer sale going on until June 27th and has just released Create Your Own packs, which allow you to mix-match hair colours from all her HUDs ever, but only five different copies of the hair. This is great if you normally use just few colour-combinations, but if you want to be able to change your hair colour often, the Infinity packs are still the way to go. Alice’s HUD system has saved my blogger-behind on countless days of ‘but I need this green hair in slightly darker hue and with golden highlights’, so I wanted to give kudos and praise where it’s due when speaking of upcoming Hair Fair.
