Let them eat it. What? What else was I going to say when wearing Marie Antoinette gown by Avatar Bizarre. The decadently pink (it’s the colour of evil, I tell you!) delicacy representing cake was absolutely perfect contrast to the gothic glamour now available in the World Goth Fair.

 The choker by Pop Tart & Urban Assault is from the fair as well, as is the makeup by Pin Me Down. The heart lip marking just seemed an equal amounts of crazy and cutesy to work for dark Marie Antoinette.

The surrounding cloisters are by *~ by Nacht, a part of their fair offerings: it is obviously meant to go together with the abbey and crypt that they also have available at the fair. Gorgeous, realistic gothness that steers away from the cliches, but stays firmly in the dark, regardless.

The Marketplace Debate

Before I get into talking about what I’m wearing, I wanted to quickly talk about two recent discussions I’ve had in the past several weeks with two individuals who have a completely different viewpoint regarding the marketplace and I found it to be quite interesting.

1. The first individual told me that they feel the marketplace is slowly going to kill the SL economy and Second Life itself. This person has noticed that ever since the onset of the marketplace, the traffic at their mainstore has decreased significantly. Their mainstore used to always have amazing traffic, I recall myself every time I went there it was always packed. Now, not so much. They still have great sales on the marketplace, but of course the Lab is taking a big chunk of each sale. They feel more and more people are shopping on marketplace and not many are visiting the stores anymore bringing traffic down for sims that need it. Places like clubs and other venues used the rent money from stores to pay for tier, etc.. and now a lot of them are not able to meet that and the situation will just get worse. People will have less to do inworld and will eventually just stop logging in.
2. The other person I spoke to says that they don’t see it that way. They feel the marketplace will assist in getting more sales for designers, especially the smaller designers that may not be able to afford a sim/mainstore inworld. They also feel that people will still login and hopefully with less people wanting to buy/rent sims, sim/land/rental prices may go down and then artists can afford to pick these up for doing art installations and such, bringing more creativity to the grid.

I’m not sure if I agree with every single thing either of them have said, but I do know that the marketplace does assist me in locating items I am looking for. Yesterday I was looking for a catwoman outfit, I searched and a bunch came up. After purchasing four different kinds, I settled on this one from Graves because it was the best quality. I know without the marketplace I would not have been able to find this as Graves is not a store I frequent.

So how do you feel about this topic? Do you think the marketplace is hurting the economy and will have detrimental effects on Second Life in the future?

Now on to what I’m wearing. A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with someone about Catwoman costumes and I was saying how I wish someone would make a really amazing and sleek mesh Catwoman avatar and/or costume. I’ve owned a Catwoman costume in the past but the quality was always lacking. For about a year I searched for a good quality one but then gave up. Since getting the FATEeyes I have been itching to dress up as Catwoman again so I decided to start my search again and hit up marketplace. I ended up purchasing four different ones and I was just blown away by this one from Graves. It’s not mesh, but it’s amazing quality and even comes with a whip. The only thing that I wish it also had was a tail.

The thigh-high platforms I’m wearing are mesh however they are not released yet. They will be released by Faint Paulse of Ladies who Lunch after the MAD Agency Fashion Show. Click here for all the details!

52 Weeks of Color 2: Week 20: Deep Pink

  So this weeks color is deep pink. First thing I thought was yay pink!!! I love pink not as much as blue but pink is pretty fun. The best part is that stumblebum’s colors this week fits perfectly for 52 weeks of color challenge! I decided to use for the most part things that I have in my inventory. As I was putting this outfit together I got a wonderful little gift from elikatira! I love love love this hair! Its so cute! I can’t wait for a full release! I am also really excited for this pose set from Glitterati and Cheeky Pea. It is part of stumblebum this round! I love this pose set mainly because its so fun! I do sorta wish a family pose was included with this set because its balloons and we all know kids love balloons. That is neither here nor there. The necklace is from dark mouse. This is one of those necklaces that will easily go from one outfit to another. It is so simple that I can see myself adding a couple more strands of necklaces to change up a look a little bit.

I don’t have much else to say since I am being distracted by an adorable baby so I am going to go enjoy my niece now! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Ah, Perfect Wardrobe, what are you doing to me? The theme is Pin up and boy, I was all over that. So there will be quite a few posts featuring items that I bought. Up first is this pink bodysuit with little ruffles on the hip from Rotten Defiance. The stockings and garter are from a BlackLace Ensemble. The nails are also from Perfect Wardrobe by Virtual Insanity. The jewelry is pieces of the Pearly Shell set by WTG. The hair is from Truth and the skin is still the one I’ve been using from Glam Affair. I wrapped it up wih a pair of shoes from G Field, they’re almost mary jane, but not quite. Put The Lime In The Coconut

The initial event opening rush at Culture Shock (Handy dandy info/maps/slurls at the link) is all gone and so are the script gates, so excuses for not heading over for all the shopping glee are out the window. So of course I took the chance to play with some more of the pretties that can be found there, I do so enjoy pulling things together in a way that pleases me. The Malena dress from PurpleMoon has a deliciously fae feel methinks, so I took the opportunity to play up my own kind of fae look.

I teamed up with my favorite thigh high boots from SLink, some fabulous tribal makeup from La Petite Morte and feather earrings from Amorous in place of traditional fae wings. Naturally I had to mix my makeup up, adding some scrumptious eyeshadows from Mock. Now, what does one do once they’re all dolled up like this? Well naturally they go wandering SL to look at statues of naked men! That’s the Fae influence, I swear it.
